In our overstimulated society, we live in a faster paced, and more stressful world, than previous generations. Much of our behaviours revolve around negotiating with ourselves to find strategies to regulate our mood in order to cope with the anxiety and stress we experience in our every day lives. Oftentimes, our coping strategies actually increase our struggles rather than improve our overall mental and physical health. Movement can help to elevate our positive mindset by safeguarding against negative emotions that threaten to cloud our decision making. There is extensive scientific evidence that certain ways that we move our bodies improves physical and psychological wellness helping aid in reducing, or even eliminating, anxiety and depression, thus expanding our capacity for joy. Yes, that’s right! Exercise is an inoculation from stress! Movement is interwoven in our human story and is the key to bringing pleasure and joy back to living! At Groundwork Healing, we use an integrated approach to movement, while using the most proven and up-to-date methods and techniques for optimal physical performance. Through positive conditioning, we guide you through health-based safe practices that you will stick with for a lifetime. Calisthenics, derived from the ancient Greek word “beautiful strength” is brilliantly designed to use your own natural body weight to allow your body to develop strength, endurance, flexibility, and coordination. Move your body in a functional, effective, and balanced way as Nicole guides you through a calisthenic workout that combines breath-work and mindful movements that uses the integrity of your own unique body weight to perform and build strength and power from within. Move in a way that is both dynamic and effective, and bio-mechanically safe allowing you to connect with your body on a deeper level.

Meditation
~Your body and mind are a beautifully designed, interconnected ecosystem, that is in a continuous loop of communication with one another. This sacred relationship is always at play seeking to maintain and restore balance within us. “Grounding” is the art of recognizing this sacred mind-body connection so that we can cultivate healthy behaviours that promote our well-being-ecosystem. When we are anxious, everything seems hopeless and the world uninviting. Our motivation to get things done dissipates and our ability to enjoy the simple pleasures in life are clouded. In a very real sense, our moods not only determine how we are able to effectively cope with life’s difficulties, but how much joy we experience in life.
~Meditation uses the wisdom of our bodies to effectively elevate our moods and regulate our nervous system so that we are able to navigate through our overstimulating and often stressful day-to-day environment. Our ability to ‘practice presence’ and give ourselves permission to be in the moment is extremely powerful… The breath is the most readily accessible tool for reducing anxiety and depression.
